Playing For Success Update
It has been
an exciting time for PFS. We have recently said
goodbye to pupils from Victoria, Wellington, Lampton and
St Mark’s schools who have all had an excellent 6 weeks
with us. We have certainly enjoyed the enthusiasm and
attitude shown by all learning apprentices throughout
the whole PFS programme. They have had a fun time using
the fantastic resources such as digital stills cameras,
camcorders and apple ibooks. Whilst learning about
filming and editing the young people have created some
excellent movies.
There was
also a once in a life opportunity to meet players and
cross examine them in a Press Conference. Ryan Peters,
our own Reading Champion, was a big hit along with some
players from the BFC Youth Team. We were also very
fortunate to have access to a previous Brentford manager
– Barry Quinn who gave up his time to be grilled by the
young people from Lampton High School. All pupils were
thrilled to be given signed photos and autographs.
We welcome pupils from Spring Grove Primary, Belmont
Primary, and Brentford School for Girls and look forward
to another exciting term at GPLZ.

History Workshops
From 9th -13th July Brentford will
be alive with characters dating back to key moments in
the club’s history. Detective Brent Ford, the time
traveling detective and his assistants from Primary
schools across the borough will attempt to solve the
mystery of a missing talisman, crucial to Brentford’s
luck next season.
There are four suspects: Mrs Dobbs who, back in 1937 was
moved from her house to accommodate the new club gates
in Braemar Road; the Air Raid Warden whose job it was to
usher locals to safety under the stands during the WWII
bombings; the infamous Club Chairman who dared suggest
that Brentford share a ground with QPR and Bill the long
serving groundsman who is looking for stories to include
in his memoirs.
Watch this space to find out whether the intrepid
detectives from Worple Primary, Cedars School, St Mary’s
Chiswick, Andrew Ewing, Belmont Primary, Lyndon Bennett
and Green Dragon track down the culprit and restore the
good luck charm to its rightful place.
Many thanks
to Questors Theatre and St George.

Its back! The new edition of The Buzz will again be
designed by young people over the holidays, ready for
other young people’s viewing pleasure in September.
We want this
edition to be the best ever and are looking for your
stories, poems, pictures, jokes and more…………
If you have anything you would like to appear in the The
Buzz please email it to
gplz@hounslow.gov.uk
or send it in to us (GPLZ, Griffin Park, Braemar Rd,

Fund ‘Sort It Out’ project every summer to co-ordinate
the newspaper’s production. The Buzz is written by a
group of young journalists who report about all the
activities taking place in Hounslow over the summer.
20,000 papers are printed so every primary school
receives copies for their students.
June 2007
Soccer Street Dance
The recent
June half term saw GPLZ team up with Watermans Theatre
and Brentford FC Community Sports Trust for a superb
street dance project.
Over four
days a group of local young people took skills from the
football field onto the dance floor.
The group
were taught football skills on St Paul’s Rec then
transformed them into a dance routine in the Hive at BFC
with the help of a Watermans’ street dance tutor. The
week culminated with a performance on the stage at
Watermans which was enjoyed by friends and family.
More street
dance projects to come in the future.

interested in working with us or have any particular
